The first boat show of 2022 is being held in the NEC Birmingham. This was an opportunity for the marine trade to start to make a public presence in the north following the recent years of Covid-19 restrictions. With almost 200 exhibitors the marine trade was fairly well represented. With some 20 manufacturers/suppliers for direct products suitable for RIB owners to explore, Suzuki Outboards and Brigg Ribs were strongly represented.

One innovation, new to me, was the DockyDock which looked like a very large broad-beamed rib. Used for, and told was a successful product to protect boats from hull attack by barnacles and marine growth. Of particular note was a huge Mercury 600hp outboard engine with a retail cost of £90,000 each. A USA market placed product where three or more units are fitted to fast fisher boats!!
