Revenger
29 Inboard Review by Kevin Goulding |
Revenger Ribs have established a good reputation for quality
build and value for money. This model, a Revenger 29 fitted out with
the
very latest Yamaha Hydra
Drive, ME 422 HO (275hp) diesel inboard proved
the point. Sleek, luxurious and comfortable together with a performance
which confirmed its race bred pedigree. |
teak decking complete with
engraved Revenger logo on the bathing platform (a nice little touch)
makes this 29ft (8.75m) boat
look a real stunner. |

three up 45kts plus was very quickly reached, with the latest High Output Yamaha. Superb grip in tight turns and precise steering control thro' the fitted high quality hydraulic steering system instilled instant confidence in the craft and it wasn't long at all before I was thoroughly having great fun in piloting this rig. Creature comforts are provided by seating for two in front of the centre console, console bench seat for driver and navigator and a rear bench seat for three more crew. A sun lounger on the engine cover provides leisure space when hoveto! The centre console is of a low profile design which keeps pilot and navigator snuggly close to the deck. From time to time I find that I need to stand in order to read the waves and to take some of the shock loading through my knees when taking big seas. While the seating and console were very comfortable, the provision for the pilot seat to be pivoted to permit standing was a very commendable feature. |

Storage was provided in five separate compartments. A bow locker
complete with hatch cover; underdeck storage again with substantial
hatch cover
and forward console locker underneath the two forward seats; an underseat
locker beneath the navigator, and a huge locker full
width under the rear bench seat. The clean and well laid
out engine compartment would also allow for more storage on the starboard
quarter. Tube sets from Revenger are hypalon and the design utilises taper tubes, starting |

from 18" (0.5m) diameter at the stern, parallel until the console and then tapered to 12" (0.30m) at the bow. Seven chambers each with its own inflation valve and also with their own pressure relief valves. It's amazing how both the colour of the tubes, ambient temp. morning, day and evening can affect the internal pressure of the tube-set. The use of pressure relief valves reduces overstretching of the tubes, gives longer life and keeps them looking smart. This is certainly one RIB to have on your shopping list especially if you are looking for a refined quality sportsboat with a race bred pedigree. The new Yamaha series diesel inboard fitted to this demo model with its higher output compliments this Revenger very well and puts it in a class of its own. October 2005 Basic Boat Prices
