25-27 July 2008-1st NW Boat Show It was to prove a very small gamble. With sunshine, an impressive backdrop of Snowdonia, the use of the lake, proximity of the fabulous Menai Straits and the support of the boating fraternities of Pwllheli and Abersoch and beyond, it was always assured of success. Some 170 exhibitors as well as several local dignitaries turned out to make it a friendly and informal show of what the area has to offer the boating enthusiast. Several rib dealers had their wares on display the largest from Brig and Menai Marine. Of much interest from the power boating sector was the first showing of an above ground support fuel caddy. This new unit to the market making it fully legal and safe to transport and deliver up to 216 litres of petrol. Complete with tank and trailer this unit provides the solution for remote refueling with a ground support crew for those those long distance expeditions and record breaking attempts.See www.idealsuk.com for full details. |
It was of very special interest to meet Tom McNally and his vessel “VERAHUGH” all of five feet, 4 ½ inches who together crossed the Atlantic in 113 days. Tom still holds and surely will for some time to come, the record for the smallest vessel to cross the Atlantic. Remarkable character, remarkable story. So successful was the event that you can ''ink-in' Fri 24th - Sun 26th July (inclusive) for next years show. Once again on the beautiful Vaynol Estate, Bangor. Congrats to Ben & Claire for having the belief and commitment
to make it all happen. |
