2008 Round Britain Offshore Powerboat Race
Saturday 21 June (the longest day) will see more
than 50 craft starting off from the shores of Portsmouth, at Southsea
Castle. All
the powerboats
will
be moored at Gunwharf Quays from Wednesday 18th June to get ready for
their grueling task ahead so you will be able to view all the boats
from The Waterfront and hear those engines roar.
The start of the Round Britain Powerboat Race will take place in two
stages from Southsea Castle. The first stage will start at 9.30am and
the second stage will start at 10.00am - so if you miss the boats at
Gunwharf Quays, you'll have the chance to watch them streaming down the
Solent for their first leg of over 170 miles to Plymouth.
The Race will also finish at Southsea Castle, Portsmouth on Monday 30th
June and the boats estimated time of arrival is from 2.00pm and will
be moored at Gunwharf Quays until 1st July.
