The BananaShark race team lead by John Cooke, better known as "Cookee" tells us that his Formula 1 Winner is being re-engined for the 2006 season. Already impressive winners of the BIBOA Formula 1 and RYA National Championships and several prestige events during 2005, including the famous Needles Trophy, the team is to be joined by the fast and furious 'James Bond' girl, Sarah Donahue for the Red Sea Rally later in the year.

Cookee.. " We are re-engining the race boat with an XS200, the race version of the Optimax engine from Mercury. This is being provided by E.P. Barrus, the importers of Mercury and Mariner Outboards, they are also supplying a Verado 250, the new four stroke supercharged outboard, which will be seen on the companies 2006 demonstrator at most of the events this year.

The first race of the season will be in Guernsey early May, followed by RIBEX at Cowes, Isle of Wight, where the public will have the chance to experience 70+ mph in a race boat!

The team during 2006 will also be seen at Poole, Pwhelli, Littlehampton, and Torquay for the Championship finals.

BananaShark will also be taking the race boat to Egypt for the Red Sea Rally at the beginning of September where regular navigator Graham Lawton will be replaced by Sarah Donahue, journalist and James Bond stuntwoman".
